This three day course is aimed at those wishing to gain a greater understanding of the role of liaison between organisations and sectors. Those with emergency planning, incident management and organisational resilience responsibilities are likely to find the course extremely beneficial.

Candidates will examine the role of liaison and its utility in mitigating the effects of an incident. During this course, attendees will learn from practical exercises, theoretical discussions and examination of real-life incidents. Topics include understanding the importance of effective liaison before an incident, the positive difference it makes during an incident and subsequent debriefing and learning for individuals and organisations.
No specific requirements for these un-accredited short courses but, please note they will all be taught in English.
This course is designed to assist public and private sector organisations in the management of their planning, response and recovery activities to major disruptive incidents at both strategic and operational levels. It focuses on the different aspects of liaison including stakeholder identification and management; information sharing; and attitudes and behaviours.
The consequences of a large and disruptive event are likely to be widespread and unlikely to just affect the business of a single organisation. For example, a fire in a building may affect production; result in people being injured; have a negative effect on the supply chain; damage reputation; etc.
Those involved in planning to respond to disruptions will come from a wide range of responders such as commercial organisations, emergency services, public sector and volunteer organisations, and in some circumstances the military. There will also be a huge demand for information from the media which will need to be managed as will the inevitable activity on social media.
Candidates will gain understanding of the importance and purpose of liaison; organisational assets as a resource and as a target; organisational attitudes, behaviours and actions; information sharing; managing and recording decisions and actions; its contribution to business continuity; debriefing, reviewing and learning.
The course will challenge candidates to look wider than their own department, division and organisation when planning to deal with disruptions. The knowledge and understanding they will gain can then be usefully applied in the workplace to deliver greater organisational resilience.
